About GUNNER #2
Applicants must meet the following requirements: Setting: Rural, suburban Dwelling: Single family Fence: No fence required Gunner is from a rural area and has not been exposed to traffic, noise, or groups of people. If dogs are overwhelmed by their environment, they can exhibit behaviors like excessive barking. To avoid this, for now we are limiting placement to stand alone single-family homes in a suburban neighborhood or rural area. As we learn more from the dog's time spent in foster, we will evaluate if placement can be expanded to include a more urban environment and send out an update. Mar 10, 2026: Handsome Gunner is done playing house hopscotch! This poor fellow's owner passed, and he has since been passed through three different homes. Things are looking up now though! Gunner is a friendly, affectionate boy who adores being with people. He was crated for most of his life, so he loves even just sitting with kind people. For obvious reasons, he no longer likes to use his crate, though one of his hopscotch homes said he spent the night in it. Fortunately, Gunner doesn't need the crate. He has had free reign of his other intended homes with no accidents or issues with chewing things he shouldn't. Gunner knows a few cues like sit, stay, lay down, nope, and "Gunner come here." He is very strong on leash and could use some more training. In the meantime, we recommend an EZ-Walk harness to help his new family walk him safely. He mostly just enjoys sniffing on his walks and didn't have much reaction to other dogs, people, or cars while out and about. We don't know if Gunner likes to fetch or swim, but he did enjoy playing with children and their toys in one of his temporary homes. He is good with other dogs and cats (we recommend slow, supervised introductions--Gunner has only sniffed or ignored cats in the past as far as we know). He is approved for children ages 10 and up. If you'd like to give Gunner a permanent family, come meet him today! Gunner is an approximately 8-year-old black neutered male. He was neutered on 3/3 and needs to take it easy until 3/17. He weighs 95 pounds which is an ideal weight for him. He is current with vaccines. He will need all boosters between 3/24-3/31. READ MEDICAL TAB Gunner needs another Heartworm test in six months (August 2026) as we don't have proof he has been on heartworm preventatives. Gunner was surrendered to the rescue.
