About Duke
Feb 5, 2026: FTA while we get the happy tail under control ** DUKE IS BEING TREATED FOR HAPPY TAIL - READ MEDICAL TAB BEFORE SENDING PROFILE** Applicants must meet the following requirements: Setting: Rural, suburban Dwelling: Single family Fence: Physical Fence Required Energy level: Moderate Duke is from a rural area and has not been exposed to traffic, noise, or groups of people. If dogs are overwhelmed by their environment, they can exhibit behaviors like excessive barking. To avoid this, for now we are limiting placement to stand alone single-family homes in a suburban neighborhood or rural area. As we learn more from the dog's time spent in foster, we will evaluate if placement can be expanded to include a more urban environment and send out an update. Jan 18, 2026: Duke is a very handsome gentleman Lab who found his way to lab rescue just as he is turning 8 yrs old. Though he just turned 8, his personality and energy level are that of a much younger dog. He loves to run and play. He will retrieve just about anything you throw for him but balls are his favorite. He did wonderfully meeting our evaluator and evaluators dog. He went right into play mode with the other pup. He quite often had playtime with the family's 3 yr. old golden retriever. Duke came to us when his young owner left home and Duke was left behind with the family. Duke's family decided that he needed a new home, and family, that would take care of him so they asked Lab Rescue to take him in so he could find a good home. He has for his 8 years lived outside in a pen though his family says they take him out every day to exercise and play fetch on their 10 acres. He was taught not to climb the stairs to the deck so he likely doesn't really know how to navigate stairs. He was brought inside and crated anytime weather was severely hot or cold so he is used to the crate for short periods of time. But he likely doesn't really need it. His family told us he is not a fan of water or fireworks. He does have a chicken allergy and should be fed on a diet without chicken in the ingredients. Approved for kids 10 and up as we have no history of him ever living with young children. He is unknown with cats and good with other dogs. Duke - 8 yr old, neutered yellow male. He weighs 65 lbs. He is up to date on vaccines. 4DX negative READ MEIDCAL TAB Duke needs another Heartworm test in six months (July 2026) as we don't have proof he/she has been on heartworm preventatives prior to coming to Lab Rescue Owner surrender to Lab Rescue -son's dog and son left home without him
