About Lucky
Applicants must meet the following requirements: Setting: Rural, Suburban Dwelling: Single Family Fence: No fence required, if exercise needs met. Energy Level: Moderate to High Training Addendum Mar 13, 2026: Handsome Lucky is back with his fosters and looking for his forever home. By all accounts Lucky is sweet, affectionate and bonds very strongly with his people, especially the men in his life. He's grown quite fond of foster dad, and is happiest when the boys are together. Of course he does love foster mom, but he will do best in a home where 'dad' is his primary person. Lucky also has an affinity for the small dogs! He'd love a small dog companion, but he's just as happy to be his person's one and only. His happy place is with his people and he would prefer them to be home more than not. Lucky needs an adopter who will be patient as he adjusts to a new home and will give him the time he needs to feel safe in a new spot and attached to his human, before introducing him to new situations. Lucky would be very happy as a home-body in a quiet neighborhood; he will be the furry best friend to someone looking for a snuggly shadow. He will continue to need to work on his leash walking, but has delightful house manners. He's a sweet good boy. Feb 10, 2026: Lucky is a very sweet pup, and his fosters say he's a special boy. Lucky has settled into foster and shown that he is house trained, and crate trained. His crate is his special space, and he puts himself to sleep there at night. Lucky made a friend in the neighbor's 30lb mixed breed pup. He loves to play with her, and they enjoy chasing each other around the backyard. He seems to prefer the company of smaller dogs, but he'd be just as happy as an only dog, as long as he gets lots of time with his humans. He also really likes fetch! Lucky has a big booming bark, and does bark when meeting new people. He's a bit nervous in new situations and meeting new people, so slow introductions are best. Once he knows you, he is happy to see you! Lucky becomes very attached to his humans - and is more interested in being with them than the dogs. He would prefer his humans home more than not; he bonds tightly and loves to be with his people. He loves snuggles and affection, and knows sit, stay and how to wait for his food. He has good house manners, and has recently learned how to do some stairs! While the weather has limited the amount of walks Lucky has been able to enjoy, he seems to have some experience with it! But he's a strong guy and does best on an harness. Lucky sometimes gets excited to take a treat, and will need reminders to have a gentle mouth in those moments. They report he's an active, happy guy, who will be a loyal companion to some family. Lucky is in his happy place with his people giving and receiving love. Lucky will thrive with an adopter who is home more and is looking to add a dog that's going to be included in everything. Dec 17, 2025: Lucky came to us because his military family got relocated into a smaller house and yard than before and they felt like Lucky was not able to get the exercise and room that he deserved. Lucky can be a little nervous around new people especially with sudden movements but warms up pretty quickly once he gets to know you. He had no issues with our evaluator walking right in the house and he came up to them immediately and was very loving and friendly. Lucky lived with a chihuahua, cats and kids aged 10. He is house and crate trained and knows some basic commands. Lucky will retrieve anything you throw for him. He is a sweet boy who just needs a new chance at furever! More soon! Lucky is a 2.5 year old black male. He weighs 78lbs. 4DX Negative. See medical tab. OGU
