About Tex

** WITH TRAINER IN GERMANTOWN MD. CHRISTINE IS CONTACT Applications must meet the following requirements: Setting: Rural, Suburban Dwelling: Single Family Fence: Physical fence required; No efences. Energy Level: High Training Addendum: Yes Mar 3, 2026: Tex arrived to Lab Rescue as an energetic, happy, strong, sometimes stubborn pup. He was a stray to the shelter, and needed some help to focus his energy and natural instincts to help him be the best boy. Tex has spent some time working with one of our trainers, and they can't say enough good things about him. He is still a bit of a stubborn knucklehead, but smart!, which means he'll need an adopter who is ready to keep up with his training, and the strategies his trainers have developed for him to get the mental and physical stimulation he needs. Tex is doing well in playgroup now, and enjoys hanging out with other dogs. If there is another dog in his new home, it should be a calm female dog, similar in size, age, and play style. The most important thing to know about Tex is that he loves TUG, and will play it endlessly. His trainer has worked with him to make tug part of his training - working on fetch, tug, and release. Rewarding him with the thing he loves most, TUG, has been the key to his success. He needs an adopter who will provide 3-4 playtime sessions a day, 20 minutes at a time, in addition to time to run run run outside with his humans to play. He enjoys walks for the sniffs, but it's that engagement with his human during playtime that really satisfies him! Tex is also a very strong boy (and still sometimes a bit stubborn), so he will need an adopter who can handle him and won't be easily knocked down by this big galoot when he gets to hopping around in his happiness. Tex would like his humans around more than not - he's the ideal work from home buddy, as he will help you get those stretch breaks in. He will do best in a quiet neighborhood. He crates well, and sleeps there. He waits to go outside to do his business. Tex is a great dog, looking for an adopter who can keep building on all he has learned so far.
