Luckily, Kuma has settled right back into the routine in his foster home. Since completing his rest recovery from his knee surgery, he is doing especially well now that he's able to get the exercise and daily enrichment he needs. This is critical for him, as those pieces are not optional for this boy. He is a high-energy dog with a big need for human engagement. When that need isn’t met, he will struggle to listen and focus on his person. Kuma is looking for a person who wants a constant companion. He thrives when he has a lot of interaction, and structure, and someone who enjoys training and engagement as part of daily life. He's still working on his impulse control, but is improving daily. Our guy also has a big bark he uses when he's excited. Kuma is very friendly with people, but he has big energy when he meets new people. This is very manageable with structure and proactive handling, but it’s not the right match for every household. Kuma will also need a fenced yard where he can safely and happily get out a lot of that energy. He also benefits from sniffing and enrichment activities to keep his mind and body occupied, and is happiest when he gets that stimulation consistently. Kuma isn't bothered by other dogs through a fence, and he's continuing to work with his trainer/foster on integrating him with another easy-going dog. Right now, he'll do best in a home where he's the only dog, but as he continues to work with his trainer we will update on his progress. Kuma's ideal adopters will be ready and willing to provide Kuma with the interaction and structure he needs to be successful. They will be willing and able to consistently provide a calm house, a commitment to further training, plenty of exercise and enrichment every day, and rewards for calm quiet behavior.
